Steven M. Lacny, 69, of Twin Lakes, died at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026. He was born on May 19, 1957 in Chicago, the son of the late Mitchell and Theresa (Ulatowski) Lacny Jr. In 1963 he moved to Twin Lakes and attended Wilmot High School where he graduated in 1976. On May 17, 1980 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Twin Lakes, he was united in marriage to Kimberly Butowski. Steve has been in the construction business for many years first starting with SML Builders and then later Makk Construction.

Steve was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Twin Lakes. He enjoyed traveling especially to Sanibal Island, Florida, and listening to Jimmy Buffett music. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Another passion of Steve’s was golfing and in 1979 he was a founding member of the Monday Night Madness Golf League at Twin Lakes Country Club. He loved grilling out and going to the beach with his family.

Steve is survived by his wife Kimberly; children, Alexa (Jake) Botch, Kiah Lacny, McKenna Lacny and Kiley Wharton; and grandchildren Rylan, Kove  Knoxx and one on the way. Steve was the brother to Jerome Lacny and the late Greg Lacny.

A Celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Friday Aug. 21, 2026 from 1 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 4 p.m. at the Twin Lakes Country Club Pavillion, 1230 Legion Dr. Twin Lakes. As per one of his final requests, we highly encourage you to come dressed in Buffett attire – Hawaiian shirts, flip flops, anything that brings the tropical beach and parrot head vibes.
