Richard W. “Dick” Robers, 101, of Burlington, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Waterford Senior Living.
Born in Bassett on Jan. 26, 1925, he was the son of Bernard and Regina (nee Richter) Robers. His early life was spent in Bassett, where he graduated from St. Alphonsus Grade School in 1938 and Wilmot High School in 1942. He attended one year at UW Madison. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII from July 1943 until November 1945. He also served as Second Lieutenant Navigator on a B-24 and B-29 in the 8th Airforce in England. On Aug. 28, 1945, he was united in marriage to Patricia McCarthy. She preceded him in death on March 30, 1971. On July 28, 1973, he married Hildegarde (nee Wolf) Frost.
Dick worked at Burlington Brass Works from 1946 until 1966, Associated Milk Producer from 1966 until 1987 and at First Banking Center from 1990 until 2012. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Forester. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and coached a baseball pony league team. He also enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and feeding and maintaining his wood stove.
Dick is survived by his children, Rick (Connie) Robers, Christine Maxfield, Kurt (Diana) Robers, Ken (Barb) Frost, Sandy Murray, Cindy (Rich) Richardson, Holly (Mike) Kulbacki and Deb (Scott) Lancour; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mae Robers; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Pat, wife Hilde, son-in-law Greg Maxfield, grandchild Cassandra Schwarz, great-grandchild Stella Blancho, siblings Bob (Ethel) Robers, Margaret (Carl) Grulich, Mickey Robers, and Bernice (Ed) Elderbrook; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Lucille (Fritz) McCarthy Chuck (Lorraine) McCarthy, Frank (Jo) McCarthy and Philip (Colleen) McCarthy.
The family would like to thank Aurora at Home Hospice and the staff at Waterford Senior Living for their care during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Charles Catholic School, Helping Hands at St. Charles, Meals on Wheels of Racine County or Heart of the Nation Televised Mass.
Mass for Dick will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9 until 11 a.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Burial will follow the mass at St. Charles Cemetery.
