Richard “Rick” Peterson, 80, of Delafield, passed away peacefully on Aug. 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. In a touching reflection of a life devoted to his family, Rick passed on the couple’s 56th wedding anniversary, a day that had marked his lifelong commitment.
Rick was born on Aug. 19, 1945, in Burlington. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, kindness, and gentle spirit. He lived with humility, always putting others first, and was known for his deep love of family and generous heart.
Rick is survived by his wife, Helen; his son, Matt (Kim) Peterson; his daughter, Ann Mary Peterson; and his grandchildren, Peyton (Sylvia) Peterson and Kamryn (Peyton) Smith. He is also survived by his brother, Lynn (Charlotte) Peterson; his sisters, Pat (Dean) Paul and Margo (Gary) Jacob; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Hartland. Following the Mass, a visitation and luncheon will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026 from Noon until 3 p.m. at the Golden Mast Inn in Okauchee, to celebrate Rick’s life and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rick’s name to Journey 21 in Oconomowoc,
Rick’s legacy of love, kindness, and quiet grace will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
