David B. Fork, 70, of Mukwonago and a summer resident of Au Gres, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at his home in Au Gres.
He was born on July 12, 1955, in Indianapolis to the late Donald and Nancy (McLaughlin) Fork. After high school graduation, Dave went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1977. He was a proud member of the Purdue marching band and coincidentally that is where he met the love of his life, Edith (Glover). They married on Oct. 6, 1979, in Milan, Indiana.
Dave’s unique career in engineering spanned over 40 years until his retirement in 2020. He started that journey working for Allis Chalmers Agriculture Equipment and Machinery Company. His initial engineering work primarily focused on large agriculture machines. He spent the majority of his career at Rexnord Corporation, where his skills became more diverse as he worked with products as small as cell phones, as large as industrial rock crushers, and virtually everything in between. Dave was a creative and hands-on engineer, and it led to him registering two separate patents.
Dave’s engineering skills and interests came home, too. He enjoyed tinkering to create and improve gadgets and tools around the house, and he was an avid racing fan, especially IndyCar. Dave also dedicated many hours to the Boy Scouts, first as a Cubmaster, and then served on many committees over the years. He also held the position of financial secretary for the Mukwonago United Church of Christ. Dave loved making music as a member of the Mukwonago Area Community Choir. He spent much of his time entertaining family and friends with his humor and quick wit and will be remembered fondly for his endearing and distinctive laugh.
Dave was a good man. Left to cherish many wonderful memories are his wife, Edith Fork; daughter Megan (Michael Lyle) Fork of West Chester, Pennsylvania; and son Brian (Emily) Forth with grandson Julian of Madison. He is also survived by four siblings, Rolly Grover of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Joyce Hartman of Chesterfield, Virginia, Gail Demko of Au Gres, and Donald (Jeri) Fork of Kouts, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Constance Smith.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 930 Main Street, Mukwonago. Visitation will start at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. The place of interment will be in the family cemetery in Sims Township.
