Jose R. Godina, Sr., 94, longtime resident of Delavan, passed to eternal life on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at his residence.
Jose was born on April 7, 1932, in Laredo, Texas to Lorenzo and Virginia (Ramos). He married Karen Anderson Sadewater on May 7, 1988, in Delavan. Jose retired from U.S. Gypsum. He loved to ride his bike around town well into his 70’s.
Jose is survived by his wife Karen; children Augustine Godina, Greg (Jennine), Mike (Mary), Matt Godina, Rex, Earl, Dena and Sha (Danielle); grandchildren Petra, Jeff, Michael, Anjill, Michaela, Jeremy, Jess, and Shayla; great grandchildren Victoria, Kari, Tariq, Mateo and Sofia; and siblings Simon Godina, Virginia Garza, Anastacio Godina and Augustina Godina Vela. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Petra; sons Pedro, and Joe Jr (Lisa); daughter Virginia Godina; siblings Lorenzo Godina, Julia Godina Gonzalez, Refugio Sr. and Juanita Godina; and daughter-in-law Lisa Godina.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Lazarczyk Family Funeral Home, 118 South 2nd Street, Delavan from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at Noon. Interment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
