Janet Schmaling, 92, of Delavan, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at home. She was born on May 20, 1934 to DeLorme and Margaret (Brown) Gray.     Janet was united in marriage to Charles Schmaling in Elkhorn in 1954. They lived on the family farm. Charles passed away in 1991. Janet went to school and UW-Stout and UW-Whitewater. She was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Red Hat Society, Meals on Wheels, Delavan American Legion Post 95 Auxiliary, Our Redeemer Altar Guild, and was Walworth County Fair Antique Superintendent. Janet enjoyed knitting, bowling, and was an avid Packers, Brewers, and Badgers fan.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Tom) Mekelburg of Bedias, Texas; two sons, Ron Schmaling, of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Terry (Cindy) Schmaling of Delavan; grandchildren, Ben (JaLynne) Schmaling of Prescott, Iowa, Ethan Schmaling of Waukesha, Brittany Schmaling of Lakeville, Minnesota, Blake Schmaling of Delavan, and Emily Mekelburg of College Station, Texas; and great grandchildren, Grayson, Charles, Henry, and Mackson.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; and daughter, Sue.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 416 W. Geneva Street in Delavan.  Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Thursday at the church. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan.
