Lawrence O. “Larry” Severson, Jr., 90, of Burlington, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Oak Park Place.

Larry was born in Peoria, Illinois on January 22, 1936, to Lawrence and Eleanor (Arthur) Severson. He attended Burlington schools and served in the US Army.

For 38 years, Larry was an over-the-road truck driver. He was very proud to have logged over 3.5 million accident-free miles in that timeframe and was nominated truck driver of the year in 1996. After his retirement, Larry could be found in his garage restoring his old cars and tinkering with anything that needed repair. When he wasn’t in his garage, he was socializing, involved with his car clubs, and continued to take road trips exploring all the backroads!

Larry is survived by his four children, Brenda (Ken Given) Koenen, Craig (Kit) Severson, Scott (Jeanne) Severson, all of Burlington, and Todd (Marla Day) Severson of Weston; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, with another one on the way. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter-in-law, Michele (nee Pieske) Severson, and his former wife, Beverly Stang.

Larry will be laid to rest next to his parents at the St. Charles Cemetery in Burlington with a private family service.

A celebration of life will be held at the Integrity Celebration Center, 2789 Browns Lake Dr., Burlington, on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 4 until 6 p.m.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Oak Park Place, his VA medical staff, and the wonderful healthcare providers from St. Croix Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, Larry wished for any donations to be made in his name to Union Grove Veterans Home, Boland Hall, 21425 G Spring St., Union Grove, WI 53182.
