Alice J. Slopa, 94, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Delavan, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Chapman Health Care-Assisted in Alexander City, Alabama.

Alice was born on Aug. 4, 1931 in Township of Darien to Ralph and Inez (Munroe) Pounder. She was united in marriage to Robert E. Slopa on Dec. 10, 1955 at the Delavan Methodist Church. Early on Alice was a buyer for Stevens Clothing in Chicago. She became a pilot and was a flight instructor for DuPage Aviation, Illinois and was a past secretary for the Chicago Flight Instructor Association. She will be fondly remembered for her love of German Steinbach and Christian Ulbricht Nutcrackers and Smokers that she and Bob collected for each anniversary.

Alice was a very sweet, smiling and giving woman who was loved by all, and never forgot to send a birthday, Christmas or thank you card. She loved nature, bird watching, tending to flower and vegetable gardens.

Alice is survived many nieces and nephews, Tom (Diane) Dunham, Janice (Rick) Schulz, Jim (Sue) Dunham, Dody (Paul) Maki, Pat Carroll, Terry Carroll, Ed (Barb) Carroll, Rick (Sara) Carroll, Millie (John) Stackowicz, John (Diane) Pounder, Sarah Pounder, Lucy (Bernie) Mollett, and June Pounder.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert E. Slopa; sisters, Edythe M. Carroll-Clark and Inez Maude Dunham; and brother, William G. Pounder.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Avenue in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan.
