Warren Edward Huck joined his parents and three brothers, Russell, William, and Robert, in the Eternal Kingdom of Heaven on March 4, 2026, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Warren was born on Aug. 2, 1947, to Mary Jane (Olson) and Harold William Huck. He grew up in Milwaukee, spending many summers with his brothers on his grandparents’ farm in Chimney Rock. Warren graduated from Milwaukee Boys’ Trade and Technical High School in 1966 and immediately volunteered for service in the United States Marine Corps, completing a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1967 until 1969. He served near the Da Nang Air Force Base, a key lifeline for United States military operations in Vietnam. Warren was proud of his service and hoped that his sacrifices would make it possible for future generations to live in peace. He always spoke fondly of those he served alongside and carried positive memories of the people he met during his time there.
In 1972, Warren met the love of his life, Diane K Miller, at a party in Milwaukee. They were married in Loran, Illinois, on June 30, 1973, and enjoyed 53 years of marriage, primarily making their home in the village of Waterford. There they raised their two children, Sarah Lane of Waterford and Garrett Huck of Sun Prairie. Waterford was a joyful home for the Huck family, who loved the many activities in their community including Fourth of July parades, time along the Fox River, and the many extracurricular activities in which their children and grandchildren participated. Warren was blessed to spend most of his life living near his brothers, nephews, and nieces, with whom he regularly shared time and laughter.
Warren devoted his entire career to working as a fireman and locomotive engineer for the Milwaukee Road, Soo Line, and CP Rail. As an engineer, he was frequently on call and worked an unpredictable schedule, yet he handled it with grace and dedication. After retiring in 2006, he devoted himself more fully to the things he loved most; his family and friends, tennis, pickleball, fly-fishing, and treasure hunting with his metal detector. He especially cherished his time with his grandchildren, Quinn Lane with whom he shared a uniquely special bond, and Brendan Huck, who not only carries on his grandfather’s mischievous spirit and sense of humor, but also his middle name. During his later years, Warren valued his time volunteering for the food pantry at the Norway Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed those he served with.
Warren will be remembered in many ways by many people. He was a man of dignity and kindness, quick to help friends, family, and neighbors, and someone who could always be counted on to do the right thing. He possessed a wonderful, and sometimes wild, sense of humor that he passed on to his son and nephews. He loved deeply and steadfastly. A man of faith, he faced every challenge knowing that God stood beside him. He found great joy in his time at Norway Lutheran Church, where he will be laid to rest.
Warren is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter Sarah (special friend Joe Kavanaugh); son Garrett (Elizabeth); granddaughter Quinn Lane; and grandson Brendan Huck. His spirit will also live on through his sisters-in-law Darlene and Donna Huck, and Judy Henze; brother-in-law Dale Henze; beloved nephews Russell and Jeremy Huck, Donald and Steven Miller, Chad, Ryan, and Kyle Henze; and nieces Kristy Dampman, Lori Miller, Melissa Bohringer, Britni Henze and Lindsey Sharman. He will also be remembered by son-in-law Wayne Lane, and special friends Bryan, Katie, Jack, Nate, and Ellie Brouwers.
Warren was preceded in his entry into Heaven by his mother and father Mary and Harold, Diane’s parents Pearl and Harold Miller, Warren’s brothers Russell, William, and Robert, and his brother-in-law Ronald and wife Jean Miller.
Warren’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the ICU staff at Burlington Memorial Hospital for their kindness, compassion, and humanity during his final days. You are truly appreciated.
