Joan Susan Jacobsen passed away peacefully at the Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove on Feb. 7, 2026, at the age of 95. Joan was born on Aug. 27, 1930 in Chicago, and in later years, made her home in Twin Lakes.

Joan’s early education culminated in her graduation from Tuley High School in Chicago in 1948, where she cultivated a love for the arts that would remain with her throughout her life. Her passion for painting was evident, and she proudly participated in various exhibitions, earning recognition for her work. Notably, she was honored with three awards from the Wisconsin Regional Artists Association (WRAA), a testament to her skill and dedication to her craft.

In addition to her outstanding talent in watercolor painting, Joan was an avid golfer, bird watcher, and wildflower enthusiast. She was thrilled to have met her long-admired golf pro Payne Stewart.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav Grande, Mae Daniel and her stepfather, William “Papa Bill” Daniel.

Joan is survived by her three sons, Tom (Deborah) Jacobsen, Jeffrey Jacobsen, and Daniel (Jane) Jacobsen with grandchildren Shaun, Kari, Casey and Alec.

Her legacy will live on through her art and the memories created with her loved ones. Joan will be missed by all who loved her.

Thanks are extended to St. Croix Hospice and the staff at Oak Ridge Care Center for their tender care and compassion.

“I’m going by the upper road, for that still holds the sun, I’m climbing through night’s pastures where the starry rivers run. If you should think to seek me in my old dark abode, you’ll find this writing on the door:

“She’s on the Upper Road.”   Proverbs 4:12 “When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.”

A private celebration of Joan’s life will be held at a later date.
