Shirley M. Pearce, 99, of Burlington, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2026 at Elder Care Cottages in Waterford.
Born in Burlington on Nov. 14, 1926, Shirley was the daughter of Raymond and Lucille (nee McCormack) McDonald. She graduated from Burlington High School and then attended and graduated from Cosmetology School. On Feb. 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Thomas Pearce. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1988. She was a lifelong Burlington resident.
Shirley owned and operated Burlington Floral with her husband. She loved shopping, especially at Marshall Fields, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her children, Nancy Toepfer and Robert Pearce; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters Peggy Kostka and Julie Meixner, sisters Mary Howe and Patricia Wegge, and grandson Chauncey.
The family would like to thank the staff at Elder Care Cottages, Morgan at Heartland Hospice and Shirley’s daughter, Nancy, for all the love and devotion given during her life.
A gathering to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held at a later time.
