Lloyd Ray Frye, 92, of Burlington and formerly of Rochester, passed away peacefully to eternal life on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026.

Lloyd was born on Feb. 23, 1933 in La Farge, son of the late Ray and Sarah (Hopkins) Frye. Growing up he attended the Ontario High School and continued his education at the Stout University. He married the love of his life, Cleo Nelson on Aug. 20, 1955. She preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 2023.

Lloyd taught AG and Industrial Arts at the Taylor High School for three years before moving to Rochester, and then teaching AG, Art, Welding, and Machine Shop at the Waterford High School for 50 years. He was the first teacher to be inducted into the Waterford High School Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed coaching the boys and girls golf where he took the teams to State tournaments more than once. Lloyd was more than just a teacher who taught from a book, he also taught about real life lessons to help students learn about real life experiences.

Lloyd was a longtime member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Community.

Lloyd is survived by his children, Ray (Cheryll) Frye of Eagle, Susan (Chuck) Wieland of Pine River, Robert (Irena) of Cancun, Mexico, and Roger (Cindy) Oconomowoc; grandchildren Abby Frye, Aaron Frye, Rachel Frye, Brandon Wieland and Anthony Wieland; cousin Karen Ekren of Westby; other relatives, many friends, and even more students that he taught. Lloyds is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and son Rick Frye.

A visitation for Lloyd will be held at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Community, 305 S 1st St, Waterford, on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026 from 9 until 11:15 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.

Flower memorials are welcomed, or memorials can go to the “Richard Frye Scholarship Fund.”
