David “Dave” R. Kron, 77, of Spring Prairie, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026 at Froedtert Hospital.
Born in Madison on March 30, 1948, he was the son of Wesley and Beverly (nee Rhodes) Kron. His early life was spent in Watertown, where he graduated from Watertown High School. He later graduated from UW Madison with a Bachelor’s Degree in dairy science. On Jan. 15, 2008, he was united in marriage to Marie (nee Klecka) Dale. They have made Spring Prairie their home for the past 25 years.
Dave worked as a seed salesman, selling to local farmers with his company, “Dave’s Seeds”. He was also formerly a dairy farmer in Watertown and Wheatland. He was a former member of the Burlington Jaycees and the Watertown 4-H. He was a member of the fraternity Babcock House at U.W. Madison, a former active member of St. Alphonsus Parish and former volunteer at Wheatland Fire Department.
Dave was a very avid antique tractor collector and loved attending tractor shows and auctions. He loved spending hours with his brother, Jim, working on tractors. He also loved to be out on his family’s boat, loved music, deejaying, singing and dancing. He was an avid sports fan of the Packers and Badgers and enjoyed studying Native American history, WWII History, reading books and going on waterfall trips. He loved socializing and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who all called him “Grandpa Dave”. Dave had a unique personality that left everyone who met him smiling and shaking their head. He enjoyed being the life of the party.
Dave is survived by his wife, Marie; children, Jason (Laurie) Kron, Jody (Matt) Peterson, Julie (Chris) Vining, Cathleen (Safdar) Hayat, Bill Dale and Chrissy Dale; grandchildren, Mia and Ava Peterson, Pier and Ruby Hayat, Liam and Elise Dale, Leah and Sydney Christiansen, and Evan and Keila Willms; and siblings, Jim (Diane) Kron, Judy Smith and Kathy (Randy) Wollinger. Dave is also survived by the mother of his children and friend, Linda Kron. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank the Froedtert ICU staff and Advanced Care Team, along with the Froedtert Faith Clinic and Theresa Hewitt at Aurora Medical Center, Burlington for their care during this time.
Services for Dave will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
