Stanley Kerkman, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025 at Waterford Senior Living.
Born on Oct. 17, 1926 in the town of Wheatland, he was the son of Henry and Clara (Epping) Kerkman. He spent his whole life in the Wheatland area, attending St. Alphonsus Grade School and St. Mary’s High School. On Aug. 27, 1949, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Nienhaus at Holy Name Church in Wilmot. Following marriage they continued to live in Wheatland. Dorothy preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 2020.
Stan worked in the construction industry, joining his brothers at Kerkman Brothers Construction, where he started the excavating division of the business. He was member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a trustee for the church for 22 years. He was on the County Board for 24 years and was the Kenosha County Chairman for two years, First Bank Southeast Director for ten years, and Vice President of Kerkman Brothers Construction.
Stan had a love of music. He played both the guitar and the omni cord. He played in the band “Two Guys”, and they would go around to nursing homes entertaining the residents. He also sang in the choir at St. Alphonsus. Dancing was also a great pastime for Stan and Dorothy. They had a close group of friends that would go around to different locations to dance.
Stan is survived by his children, Kenneth (Karen) Kerkman, Diane Pluess, Gary (Marta) Kerkman and Patricia Kerkman; grandchildren, Thomas (Amy), Ryan (Leslie), Valerie (Todd), Megan (Brian), Jon (Steph), Anna (Steve), Jim (Katie), Theresa (Tony), Bree (Korey), Doug (Chantry), Travis (Brianna), Kyle (Beth) and Kelly; five step-grandchildren; and thirty-three great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 70 years, Dorothy; son-in-law, Norm Pluess; grandson, Josh Kerkman; and siblings, Marcel (Colletta, Marie), Francis (Evelyn), Leon (Rosemary) and James (Arlene) Kerkman, and Elizabeth (Robert) Siehoff.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026 at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Stanley was laid to rest next to his loving wife at St. Alphonsus Cemetery following the Mass.
