Charles D. “Chuck” Krause, 91, passed away peacefully at home Monday Dec. 8, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Chuck was born June 20, 1934, in Wauseon, Ohio to Harold and Alvina (nee Henry) Krause, the oldest of their four children. He attended Wauseon High School where he met his future bride and graduated in 1952. He married Joan Markley on July 11, 1954. In 1962, while working for the Michigan-Wisconsin Pipeline Co. he was transferred to the Spring Prairie station and established a home in Burlington with his family. He was excellent welder and remained with the company until his retirement at age 80.

Chuck was a master craftsman whose woodworking and cabinetry skills are evident in his own home and those of family and friends. A jack-of-all-trades, he always kept himself busy with many activities including gardening, beekeeping, home improvement and youth mentoring. A willing volunteer, he was active in mission trips to Africa, the Caribbean, Jamaica, Mexico, and the US building schools, churches and medical clinics. For many years he managed the grounds crew at ChocolateFest. He was a man of deep faith who walked the walk.

Chuck is survived by Joan, his wife of 71 years; sisters Sue Vusich and Connie (Joseph) Valvano; brother Don (Deb) Krause; sisters-in-law Phyllis Mull and Annie Markley; daughter Kim (Mike) Soeth; sons Kurt (Liz) Krause and Kyle (Erin) Krause; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
