Barbara Jeanne Haugen, 94, of North Aurora, Illinois, peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, Dec 27, 2025.

Barbara was born Sept. 28, 1931 in Waukegan to Russell B. and Blanche M. Housholder Allen. She grew up in the Wind Lake area and graduated from Waterford High School, class of 1949. After graduating she moved to Waukegan and worked for Abbott Laboratories. On July 4, 1959, she married William L. “Lee” Haugen. They lived in Waukegan and later in Fulton, Illinois. She was a school bus driver while in Fulton.

Barb and Lee enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River. The last few months of Lee’s life they lived on their houseboat. After Lee died on Oct. 16, 1979, she moved to Burlington to be near her family. She enjoyed square dancing during this time and worked at Jay’s Manufacturing in Elkhorn for several years. During her years in Burlington, she was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

In 2022 she was moved to Asbury Gardens Assisted living facility in North Aurora to be near her sister.

She is survived by siblings JoAnn Hanson of Aurora, Illinois and Roland Allen of South Wick, Massachusetts, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three siblings.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 from 10 a.m. with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 417 S. Kane Street in Burlington.
