Laverne R. Friesema, 95, of Lake Geneva passed away on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025 at Vintage on the Ponds in Delavan. She was born in South Dakota on Feb. 15, 1930 to John and Elizabeth (Kuiper) Logterman. She is the last of the John Logterman family.
Laverne was a member of the Christian Reform Church for 76 years. She was married to George Friesema for 66 years. They moved to this area shortly after they wed and farmed here since. George passed away on Nov. 18, 2015. Laverne worked at Virchow-Krause Accounting for 30 years.
Laverne is survived by her children, Barbara (Clyde) Brumfield of Delavan, and Robert (Pamela) Friesema of Lake Geneva; son-in-law Dean Risseeuw; three grandchildren, Jeff (Kathy) Risseeuw, Philip (Maki) Olson, and Eric Olson; four great grandchildren, Ben (Elise), Megan, Tristen, and Isabelle; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Hiemstra, Margaret Ham, and Jan Friesema; and many nieces and nephews.
Laverne is preceded in death by her parents; husband George; daughter Ruth Risseeuw; and six siblings.
Funeral Services were held at on Tuesday, Dec 9, 2025 at Delavan Christian Reformed Church, 850 Oak Street. Visitation was held before the funeral on Tuesday at the church. Burial took place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan.
