George H. Mroch, 81, of Delavan, passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice. George was born in La Crosse on May 30, 1944, to William and Florence (nee Wettstein) Mroch. He married Constance M. Shuda on April 16, 1966, in La Crosse.

George retired after many years as machine repairman. He loved to play Euchre and was a master gardener who loved to teach his skills to others, especially children with the “Come grow with me project” where he would teach children at schools about planting flowers on the earth. After he retired from his first career, he took up a job at the Walworth County Fair Grounds in the barnyard adventure where he developed the butterfly barn, raising his own monarchs and became well known as “The Butterfly Man”.

George is survived by his loving wife Connie; children Suzanne Slack and Michael Mroch; grandchildren Ryan Edens, Andrew Slack, Joey Slack, Tommy Slack, Margaret Mroch and Billy Mroch; siblings David (Leslie) Mroch, June Trehus and Kathy (Terry) Papk; brother-in-law Bill Schrader; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
