Cynthia Jane “Cindy” (nee Preston) Blaschke, 86, passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, 2025, in Portland, Oregon. Born on Aug. 23, 1939, in Sparta, she lived a full and meaningful life marked by warmth and an unwavering devotion to those around her.
Cindy was raised in Alma Center and graduated from Lincoln High School. She moved to Milwaukee before settling in East Troy, where she resided for 55 years before moving to San Diego and then Portland with her son Greg.
Cindy is remembered by her children, Greg (Dean) Blaschke, Tim (Donna) Blaschke, Kelly (Andy) Treharne and Holly (Michael) Koehler, and stepdaughter Debra (Gary) Wendlandt. Cindy’s legacy continues through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were so lucky to have had her in their lives. She will be held in loving memory by her extended family and lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Blaschke, stepson Fred Blaschke and his wife, Linda, and grandson Matthew Wendlandt.
Cindy had a deep appreciation for art and supporting local artisans. She had a love for donuts, though she welcomed nearly any dessert with open arms, and never turned down a good hot dog. Her air plant collection was another source of joy. Later in life, she enjoyed spending her Tuesday mornings listening to Ukulele music with friends at the Hollywood Senior Center.
Above all else, Cindy cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. Her presence created a foundation of love and laughter that will continue to grow through generations. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived but for the light she brought into the lives of others. May her memory bring peace and comfort to all who knew and loved her.
Cindy’s family would like to thank Bristol Hospice, Dr. Joaquin Cigarroa, and Dr. Emily Morgan for giving her the exceptional care that she needed.
At Cindy’s request, a Celebration of Life will be held in Wisconsin in 2026.
