Charles A. “Charlie” “Chuck” “Woodchuck” McKay, died at the age of 66, on Nov. 26, 2025. He was born in Hancock, Michigan, on July 1, 1959. He attended Bigfoot High School from 1974 to 1977. He lived the majority of his life in Walworth County. However, he did move to California for a number of years during his 20s and 30s.

Charles was a very talented and creative man and could do about anything he put his mind to. He owned the Wood Shop on Hwy. 67 in Lake Geneva for many years. He designed some amazing furniture, which included sound systems, safes, lighting, and even an aquarium. He designed and built buses for bands, food trucks, and remodeled homes. One of the highlights of his life was managing and travelling with “She Rock”, one of the first rock bands to go into communist China. He also took “Jan and Dean” into China. He loved the cultural experience of China and the adventure. He helped many in the entertainment industry to design props and work out details to enhance their shows. Charlie owned a deli in Como for a few years and made some incredible soups and sandwiches there. He was in partnership with some others at a restaurant in Burlington called “Bobby Rockets”. He also made several wedding and specialty cakes over the years. He was multifaceted. When Charlie retired, he moved to Iowa for a short time, and then he moved back to Wisconsin.           Charlie had a great heart and was very giving. One thing he did a lot was to provide opportunities for those who were down, always helping and believing in them.

Charlie is survived by his siblings Mike McKay, Shelli Sisk and Teresa McKay: and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Dottie McKay, his brother-in-law Gary Sisk, and his niece Carrie Schuknecht.
