Philip F. DeGreef, 83, of Burlington, entered Eternal rest on Nov. 20, 2025, surrounded by family and under the compassionate care of Aurora Zilber Family Hospice.

Phil was born on Jan. 16, 1942, to Leo and Ivorine (Otto) DeGreef in Green Bay. He attended St. Philip Grade School, Premontre High School and St. Norbert College, and was a member of the National Guard.

On June 17, 1967, he married the girl next door, Marilyn Denil, and they were blessed with three children.

Phil worked as a supervisor for Hurlbut in Green Bay before he was recruited by J.W. Peters in Burlington. Phil, Marilyn, Mark, and Darren moved from Green Bay to Burlington where they settled in, welcomed Nicole, made many life-long friends, opened businesses, and remained in the house they built in 1973. When Phil retired from business ownership, he became a rural mail carrier and retired from Walworth Post Office in 2002.

Phil was honored to be a member of the Rotary Club and Burlington Rescue Squad for 21 years, enjoyed card nights with the guys, never turned down a game of cribbage, laughed his way through camping trips and many get-togethers with friends – especially Tuesday night “Bible Study’. He spent as much time as possible at his favorite place on earth, Loonatick Lodge on Spectacle Lake.

Phil was a steadfast Packer Backer and enjoyed watching the Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers. Above all, his favorite athletes were his five grandboys, attending many games, meets, and matches over the years.

Phil is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; his devoted children Mark (Lisa), Darren (Laurie), and Nicole (Seth) Brogren; his treasured grandchildren Nolan (fiancé Sarah), Jack, and Drew DeGreef, and Josh (fiancé Kyla) and Travis Brogren; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece and Goddaughter Kathy (Jim) Schmidt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joe (Holly), Leo (Margie), Paul (Sue), and Dick (Bobbi); niece Dawn-Marie; his favorite sister Mary (Jerry) McGinnis, and dearest brother-in-law Roger Denil.

Service will be on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life will follow.

Memorials or donations in Phil’s name may be made to your charity of choice or Aurora Zilber Family Hospice.
