Douglas Scott Gumieny, 64 of Mukwonago, entered eternal rest Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025 after a brief stay in hospital.
Doug was born May 31, 1961 in Milwaukee, the son of Gilbert “Gilly” and Dorothy (Heidger) Gumieny. Doug met the love of his life, Carol, at a wedding in Wind Lake in 1977. They married September 5, 1980. During their 45 years of marriage, they were residents of Mukwonago.
Doug loved spending time with family and friends, especially at their cabin in the Northwoods of Wisconsin where he rode the ATV trails, boated on Boulder Lake and enjoyed the serenity of the area.
Doug started working at the age of 16 and found his way into the dental field first as a lab technician making crowns then to his true calling as a service technician. He opened his own successful business Gumieny Dental Service in 2015 and retired in early 2024. There were very few things this man could not fix!
Doug is survived by his wife Carol (nee Kempka) Gumieny: two children, Benjamin (Jennifer) of Freedom and Jessica (Joe) Klein of Waterford; five grandchildren, Kayne Alvaro, Elise Gumieny, Michael Klein, Charlotte Gumieny, and Edison Klein. He is further survived by his siblings Jayne Gumieny of Cecil, Susan Gumieny Prey of Waco, Texas, Edward (Barb) Gumieny of Wauwatosa, and Carol Sue (Jeff) Blawat of Elton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings James Gumieny of Cecil and Dennis (Wendy) Gumieny of Wind Lake.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025 at Rozga Funeral & Cremation Services – Mukwonago Chapel, 225 Eagle Lake Avenue, Mukwonago, with a Memorial Visitation from 1 until the time of the Memorial Service at 3 p.m.
