John L. Sather, 68, of Elkhorn, passed away on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at his home.
John was born March 26, 1957, at Lakeland Hospital, the son of the late Severt and Edna Sather. He graduated from Elkhorn High School with the Class of 1975. He was active in Boy Scouts in his youth. John was united in marriage to Ellen M. Welch on Sept. 16, 1995. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan. John enjoyed motorcycles, 3-wheelers, RC cars, trucks, boats, fishing, and drones. He loved to work on cars and welding. John treasured his time spent with his family and friends.
John worked at Schenck Process from 1988 until his retirement on Sept. 1, 2022. He attended welding school from 1998 to 2000 and went to MATC for Electrical Maintenance I and II. He worked as a mechanical assembler and welder during his career. John enjoyed getting together with former co-workers.
John is survived by his loving wife, Ellen; his three children, Marissa (Lukas) Sather Metcalf of Trever, Andrea (Bevic) Sather of Elkhorn, and Adam (Raveena) Sather of Lakemoor, Illinois; four grandchildren, Danny, Mia, Gabriel, and Lylah; sister, Ann Z. (Richard) Davis of Corning, New York; friend, Dan Metcalf; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings, William R. Sather, Richard D. Sather, Kristy Fud Sather, and Kay Z. Kissinger.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, from 10 a.m. until Noon at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn.
