Norman Lee Schultz passed away on Aug. 23, 2025, at the age of 90. Norman was born in Racine, on June 7, 1935, to Norman G. and Reka (Tuinstra) Schultz.

Norm was the beloved husband of Barbara F. Schultz with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage in June 2023; loving father of Norman W. (Katherine) Schultz, Lynnell (Peter) Lowney, Lea Alexander (Pollyanne Mather) and Laurie (David) Kliemann; proud grandfather of Jessica (Jason) Silber, Melissa Grimm, Tiffany (Cory) Henningfeld, Peter, Jr. (Stephanie) Lowney, Philip Lowney (Emma Mueller), Noah Kliemann (Cindy Prentice) and Adam Kliemann and great grandfather to Kiele, Jonathan, Vincent, Nyah, Elliot and Oliver. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.    He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara; parents, sister Donna (Charles) Grant; father- and mother-in-law Wesley and Ruth (Aspinal) Fraser; and siblings-in-law Donald (Mary Ellen) Fraser, George (Jane) Fraser and Beverly (Earl) Squire.

Norm was a lifelong resident of Wind Lake. He attended Col. Heg School in the Town of Norway and the Racine County Agricultural High School in Rochester. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business at UW-Whitewater along with a teaching certificate in Business Education.  After college Norm served in the Army for three years and was stationed in Germany.

Norm taught for Milwaukee Public Schools for 31 years and loved working with students. In addition to teaching at North Division he taught Drivers Ed and served as the Athletic Director. At Hamilton High School in addition to teaching, during his last few years there, he was also the coordinator for the vocational business program placing and supervising students in internships.

In addition to teaching, Norm was the king of the side hustle. He worked at the First Banking Center in Wind Lake for 46 years, working Friday nights and Saturday mornings until he retired from teaching and then working 20-30 hours per week. He served as a commissioner of the Norway Sanitary District for 30 years, was Financial Secretary for Norway Lutheran Church for 30 years, and managed accounts payable at the Wind Lake Ace Hardware for 25 years. He and his wife were Amway distributors and sold Sunrider Chinese herbs for decades. He was a member of the Wind Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Norm had a love of learning and reading. He was the guy you wanted on your team if you were playing trivia! He continued to take college courses after receiving his degree and earned more than 85 additional credits in his lifetime. He stayed up to date on current events by watching the news and reading the paper. He kept stacks of papers and magazines so he could ‘read that article later’. He even had a stack of articles about books that he cut out and saved so that if he ‘had time later’ he could buy those books. Even in retirement there was never enough time for reading and learning. Norm had a strong faith. His parents were not churchgoers, and in high school he sought out a religious home on his own. He found Norway Lutheran Church in Wind Lake and was a loyal and active member for the rest of his life. He taught Sunday school and served on numerous councils and committees. And every Sunday morning, he marched his family up to the front of the church for the service… even when they were late.

Norm was a kind, sincere, and generous man donating to many not-for-profit agencies, over 50 in the last year alone. He led by example and was willing to help those in need. He was a devoted husband, supporting his wife Barb through a decade of dementia before her passing in 2023. He was a supportive and loving father, instilling a good work ethic, and a sarcastic sense of humor in all four of his children. He was very funny and could find humor in any situation right up to the end of his life. His positive attitude was contagious. He was loved in life and will be greatly missed.

When he was asked “How do you want to be remembered?” he said “I don’t know. I guess I want to be remembered as a decent person. A respectable person with a good heart and not too far off normal. A person with good faith and a straight shooter.” He was that and so much more.

Visitation will be held 9 until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025 at Norway Lutheran Church, 6321 Heg Park Rd., Wind Lake, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.
